Change Pathway

Translating knowledge into action and sustained real-world change

Our pathway ensures research leads to real-world change through co-creation, translation, collaboration and the application of knowledge for lasting societal impact. It is the bridge between what we learn and the difference it makes in people's lives.

Stages to impact

Lasting change

Overview

What is the Change Pathway?

The Change Pathway is how insight becomes impact. It rejects the idea that research ends with publication, and instead treats the movement from knowledge to action as a deliberate, designed part of the work.

Along the pathway we work alongside communities, partners and decision-makers so that findings are owned, understood and used. Change that lasts is rarely handed down — it is built together.

By planning for impact from the outset, the Change Pathway ensures our research does not sit on a shelf but advances flourishing in tangible, measurable ways.

Key Elements

The Building Blocks

The core elements that give this component its shape and power within our system.

Co-Creation

We build knowledge with communities and partners, not just about them, so it reflects real needs.

Translation

We turn findings into accessible, actionable forms that different audiences can understand and use.

Collaboration

We connect researchers, institutions and practitioners to move knowledge across boundaries.

Application

We support the practical use of knowledge in policy, practice and everyday life.

Sustained Impact

We track and nurture change over time so gains endure rather than fade.

Shared Ownership

We ensure the people affected are partners in change, giving impact deeper roots.

In Practice

Principles That Guide Us

These commitments turn the Change Pathway from an idea into a working part of how we do research every day.

We design for impact from the start, not as an afterthought once research is complete.

We co-create with communities so knowledge is owned by those it serves.

We translate findings into forms people can actually use.

We measure change over time, holding ourselves accountable for real-world outcomes.

Research is not an end in itself but a means to advance human flourishing and a better world for all.

WRN Research Philosophy

The Change Pathway carries the ethically framed evidence produced through the Flourishing Lens toward the flourishing described in the Ecosystem Model. What it learns along the way flows back into the Research Cycle for continuous improvement.
